The Blues midfielder said that the Frenchman’s £89million price-tag has led to huge scrutiny, something which only intensified due to the lack of a goal before he netted in the recent 4-1 win over Leicester.
‘I think he’s done well in the games but he just hadn’t scored and because of the price tag everyone’s expecting him to do wonders,’ Loftus-Cheek said at the launch of EA SPORTS FIFA 17.
‘He’s still got to settle in. I watched a few of the games and I think he was doing alright. It’s only [against Leicester] that he’s scored. They need to give him a bit of time but I think he’s done well.’
Loftus-Cheek also revealed that Chelsea’s own summer midfield signing, N’Golo Kante, had made a major impact at Stamford Bridge.
‘I think he’s been superb. I think off the ball he’s so good. Position wise and his work rate is second to none, the way he gets about the pitch and helps the team out. In transition defensively and stuff like that, he’s a massive boost.’
Both Pogba and Kante were included in a Premier League XI selected by Loftus-Cheek, based on the season so far. Check out his team below…
