Roberto Carlos to work with youth academy after agreeing Real Madrid return

Roberto Carlos has agreed to return to Real Madrid and will work as the liaison between the club’s youth academy and recently-appointed head coach Zinedine Zidane.

This is according to Spanish newspaper Marca, who understand Carlos will perform a variety of tasks with the club’s talented youngsters but there are no plans – at this stage – for the Brazilian to be involved with the first team.

The 42-year-old, who shared a dressing room with Zidane between 2001 and 2006, will help with the youth academy’s training and instil Real Madrid values on the club’s starlets.

The news is sure to be greeted positively by Real Madrid supporters; Carlos spent 11 successful years as a player at the Bernabeu and thrilled fans with his penchant for the spectacular.

The former Brazil international, who earned 125 caps, scored a host of stunning goals for Los Blancos and netted 47 in total – not bad for a left-back.
