Arsenal this week scouted Germany’s hottest prospect – Schalke teenage ace Leroy Sane.
The Gunners had spies in Gelsenkirchen as the 19-year-old grabbed his seventh goal in nine games for club and country in a 2-2 draw with Sparta Prague in the Europa League
Sane has already agreed a five-year deal with the German giants but is being tipped to break through into Joachim Low’s senior side in the next few months, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.
Arsenal have been quick to watch the youngster who, for a winger, is six feet tall – but their evening at the Europa League fixture almost turned sour.
Sane was named on the substitutes’ bench and did not join the action for over an hour.
But the Gunners’ representation left impressed as their target needed just 12 minutes to find the net and secure a draw for his club.
Arsenal are also continuing to monitor long-term target Stephan El Shaarawy.
Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of the 22-year-old, who has impressed in Ligue 1 this season on loan at Monaco from AC Milan.
El Shaarawy can play through the middle or out wide.
