Manchester Utd’s Chase For Pedro

Manchester United will trigger Pedro’s £22million release clause and are hopeful of completing a deal for the Spaniard by the end of the week.

The 28-year-old told Barca officials he wanted to leave the Nou Camp before Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Sevilla in Tbilisi.

Pedro then came off the bench to score an extra-time winner and clinch a dramatic 5-4 win.

But ahead of Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup clash with Athletic Bilbao on Friday evening, Enrique reiterated his desire to keep Pedro and admitted the situation will be sorted soon.

He said: “We all know the situation Pedro is going through. We want him to stay but it is a difficult decision. At the moment it is has not changed, but it will.

“I understand his situation. He wants to play more, I want him to stay.”

One of Pedro’s reasons for leaving is repoertedly over a lack of playing time and but Enrique would not confirm whether the attacker will start on Friday following his heroics against Sevilla.

He added: “I do not base my decisions on the transfer market. I will choose the best side.
