Manchester United boss David Moyes has revealed that Shinji Kagawa could start in his side’s Champions League quarter-final first leg clash with Bayern Munich later today.
The Red Devils host the European holders at Old Trafford and will be desperate to pick up a positive result ahead of the second leg at the Allianz Arena.
And ahead of the game United boss Moyes has insisted that Japanese international Kagawa could start against the German champions.
In his pre-match press conference – speaking about Kagawa – the Manchester United boss told reporters: “We’ll seriously consider it. Shinji’s an important player, he offers something different.”
The Japanese international has been in-and-out of the Manchester United team at times this season, but has been in fine form of late. Kagawa has had limited opportunities in his preferred position of just behind the striker since joining the Red Devils in 2012, but he could be handed his chance to shine tomorrow evening.
With Juan Mata cup-tied and Robin van Persie injured, the playmaker will be desperate to play against the Bavarians.
And Kagawa has enjoyed success against Bayern before, having played a key role in Dortmund’s double success in the 2011/12 season.
Tomorrow will certainly prove a tricky test for the Red Devils and fans of Manchester United will be hoping the likes of Kagawa and Co. can put on a memorable performance at the Theatre of Dreams.
