The Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) have debunked claims that they are considering taking some Nollywood stars to the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Reports suggested that the NFF had plans to take about 10 Nollywood artistes to the mundial, with the actors said to have even started lobbying for the spots.
While defending their N2.08 billion budget before the National Assembly, the NFF listed $800,000 as the sum they intend to spend on ten Nigerian artistes at the World Cup.
Also $204,000 has been earmarked to foot the bills of five former Sports Ministers and five former Chairmen and Secretaries of the NFF.
About four actors were reported to have already met with the NFF leadership for a place on the plane to Brazil.
However General Secretary of the NFF Musa Amadu has refuted those reports, saying they are not going to the World Cup with them.
“We are not taking any Nollywood star to Brazil. There’s no truth in the agency report that you are telling me about. A Nollywood star visited me but he is my friend and it had nothing to do with the World Cup in Brazil,” Amadu was quoted as saying on Vanguard Sports
