Nwofor will be expected to make a late charge for a place at the World Cup after he scored on his return to action.
Nigeria international striker Nwofor was sidelined for over two months by a knee injury.
The Heerenveen striker was in action for his Dutch side’s reserve Monday in a 5-0 whitewash of Volendam, where he scored the fifth goal after coming on as a substitute.
He told MtnfFootball he was disappointed the injury happened at the point where he was proving himself at Dutch club Heerenveen.
“It was frustrating to be out for a couple of months especially at a point when I was keen to show the Heerenveen fans what I could do,” the former Nigeria U20 star told the website.
“I have finally got over the injury. I am feeling strong and confident. I am looking forward to doing what I do best, which is scoring goals and working hard for the team.”
