Tottenham’s Roberto Soldado is looking forward to seeing fellow Spain international Alvaro Negredo at White Hart Lane tonight – but admits Spurs would rather the Manchester City hotshot doesn’t start.

Negredo has smashed 23 goals for the Citizens already this season following his summer arrival from Sevilla and has just returned to fitness from a shoulder injury.

Former Valencia man Soldado knows Negredo well and has mixed feelings about coming up against the 28-year-old on the field.

“Negredo is in a great part of his career now, banging in lots and lots of goals,” Soldado told Spurs’ official website.

“If he doesn’t play tonight then that’s better for us! But seriously though, it’ll be lovely to see him and if he does play it’s going to be a really, really hard game.”

Spurs were thrashed 6-0 by City at the Etihad earlier this season, and Soldado admits they are desperate for a positive result this time around.

“None of us in the changing room have forgotten the defeat up at Manchester City before, so we are completely focussed to win,” he said.

“It’s going to be a very hard game but we’ll give it a good go.

“I think the main thing is to win the game tonight, however we win it. The amount of goals they’re scoring is incredible, especially at home at the moment, so we’ll try and obviously get as many goals as we can to win the game.”
