Everton are waiting to discover if Radamel Falcao’s knee injury will scupper their chances of taking Lacina Traore on loan from Monaco.
Toffees manager Roberto Martinez wants to sign the 23-year-old former Anzhi forward for the rest of the season as his side chase a place in the Premier League top four.
Chelsea target Falcao has suffered a serious injury in a French Cup tie which could potentially rule him out of Colombia’s World Cup plans.
Everton fear that blow could mean Traore stays with Monaco and manager Roberto Martinez said: ‘We hope Falcao injury won’t affect the decision to let Lacina go out on loan.

‘We’re still working on it. There is nothing to announce. The work permit was successful but there are a few issues to work through.
‘We hope that’s not something that will affect the decision. It should go down to what the player needs in his development.
‘The deal isn’t completed so it’s difficult for me to comment. We should find out in the next few hours.’
