So it seems as though Chelsea want to secure a move for Wayne Rooney this month, while Manchester United are keen to land Blues playmaker, so a swap deal would surely make sense, wouldn’t it? The incredible price of both would take some negotiating, I’m sure, but with the Daily Mail saying there could be a possibility of something happening, I thought that I would explain why I think it’s a good deal for all parties.
Firstly, Chelsea are in desperate need of a prominent centre-forward. Yes, Eto’o scored a hat-trick against United but is he going to score over 20 goals a season? probably not. Is Torres? Probably not. Demba Ba? Definitely not.
Rooney has already scored 11 goals in all competitions this season and would add strength, creativity and composure into the attacking unit, as well as a spearhead.
At Old Trafford they are crying out for a creative outlet to operate across the attacking positions, and although they have Shinji Kagawa, David Moyes doesn’t seem to fancy him much.
Mata made almost 100 key passes last season in his 35 Premier League games as well as scoring 12 goals, but this time round he has yet to score and has registered just a fraction of the year previous.
Both players hold outrageous talent but for me they could be better suited to different surroundings, which is why I would suggest a swap deal could be perfect
