French Ligue-1 side AS Monaco are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker, according to the Telegraph. Walker, 23, has recently signed a new contract with Spurs, which potentially keeps him at White Hart Lane till 2019. The French outfit, however, remain keen on testing the waters with a lucrative offer for Walker as their pursuit of Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna seems to be fading. Sagna, 30, does not have age on his side and is close to signing a new deal with Arsenal, which may have prompted a change in Monaco’s plans.
Walker is seen as one of the best right-backs in England and given the reluctance of English players to leave their home country, a deal with Monaco for Walker seems highly unlikely.
One can never say never with Tottenham these days though as the club is going through immense turmoil following the sacking of manager Andre Villas-Boas. The North London outfit will have to re-assess its squad after signing a new manager and one cannot rule out the possibility of the club being tempted by a big offer from cash rich Monaco for Walker. Walker is currently one of Tottenham’s biggest stars, whose exit would mean a big blow for Spurs.
