A total of 22 fights were recorded in day two of the boxing event in the ongoing National Youth Games (NYG), holding at the Abuja National Stadium Velodrome.
Nine bouts took centre-stage in the female weight boxing category; four in the 51 and 57 weight categories each, while the only fight in the 54kg produced a first female boxing champion.
Delta State female boxer, Okoro Vwerosuo, defeated Kalu Kasarachi from Abia State in the third round of the only bout in the 54kg category on Tuesday to become the first female to be crowned champion in the maiden edition of the NYG.
In the male 54 and 57 weight categories, four fights were recorded each, three in the 51 weight category and two fights in the 60kg category.
David David from Cross River State and Musa Jazuli from Kano State both progressed into the semi-finals of the male boxing event without throwing a punch as their opponents Yusuf Rasheed from Oyo State and Ayobami Kasali failed to surface.
